Sony surprise everyone with the announcement of the new Vita VT. With this little box you can stream your PS4 games to another tv in your house, but that’s not all, as the name implies, in the inside of this little box there is a full PS Vita.
It can play Vita games, movies and any other content that your Vita, PS3 and PS4 have access to. This means digital PSX and PSP games too, just this feature could skyrocket the sales because all the fan base those platforms have. But wait, there’s more.
Vita TV – Price and Specs
The Vita TV is as simple it can get, in the back you’ll see 5 ports: one for a Memory Card, USB, HDMI, Ethernet and power, plus an extra port on the side for Vita Game cards. The best part of all this, is without doubt the price: 10000 yen for the VIta TV alone, and 15000 yen for a pack that include a 8GB memory card and a DualShok 3.
This translates to 100 and 150 US Dollars respectively. With all the new Indie title announced for the PS Vita, the Vita TV might be what many hoped the Ouya would be and unfortunately is not: the perfect ecosystem for indie games.
For the last few years Sony has helped, and collaborated with dozen Indie Devs, and we could see the fruits of that collaboration in the last E3. The Vita is getting dozen of awesome Indie titles such as: Fez, Hotline Miami 2, Spelunky and many many more. This means the Vita TV WILL have games, not like the Ouya, and other Indie platforms that never lifted off.
This little beauty is to set to go on sale, on Japan, on the 14th of November. We have do not have a date for the West. We can only hope and wait now.
