Its official, Sega bought Index Corporation for roughly 14 million Yens. This deal includes all the franchises, such as Persona. This saved Atlus from Capcom, but now we can only hope that Sega doesn’t screw Atlus.
Index Corporation, is was a financial group that bought dozen of promising small companies in the late 90s. Some notorious projects were: MegaHouse (anime figures), Grenoble Foot 38 (soccer team!), and many others. Atlus joined this group a couple of years ago (2006) when Atlus almost declared bankruptcy.
With this acquisition Sega got a lot more than Atlus, this might mark a new age for this beloved company.
What can we expect for Atlus’ future?
Atlus next game Shin Megami Tensei: Fire Emblem will release this winter in Japan, with the collaboration of Nintendo. For now there haven’t been any declarations saying this game will be delayed or cancel, let’s hope this stays this way. Fans of Persona, are waiting for any news about the Persona 3 movie announced this summer.
